PipeFiber — Aramid Pipe Repair System

1. Overview

The PipeFiber aramid pipe-repair system pairs a dedicated resin with an aramid composite cloth, wrapped circumferentially around the defective section. The composite carries hoop load together with the host pipe, raising the load-bearing capacity and extending the service life of the pipeline.

2. Physical Properties

Quality criteria for the aramid cloth supplied with PipeFiber:

  1. Golden-yellow weave, uniform and aligned, with clear reference cut-lines, free of dust or other contamination
  2. No missing or broken wefts, no broken warps, no holes
  3. Straight, evenly distributed fibers — no skew or wrinkles
  4. High strength and high elastic modulus

3. Technical Advantages

The PipeFiber system is high-performance and field-friendly:

  1. Impact resistance — aramid elastic modulus ~ 110 GPa, elongation 2.0%, plastic failure mode
  2. Dynamic-load fatigue — highest shear performance of any FRP material
  3. Chemical resistance — withstands acids and strong alkalis; widely used in saline / acidic oilfields, pipelines and harbours
  4. Non-conductive and non-magnetic — safe in sensitive corridors

5. Installation Workflow

Installers must be qualified and follow this sequence:

  1. Preparation — drafting the procedure, mobilising cloth, resin, and tools
  2. Surface prep — remove flaking, spongy zones, honeycomb and corrosion; level with repair compound
  3. Primer coat — mix according to ratio, apply within window, allow to tack-dry
  4. Wrap with aramid — cut to design, impregnate, wrap; roll along the fiber direction to expel air
  5. Topcoat — apply protective coating per specification, ensuring adhesion to the aramid layer

6. Applications

PipeFiber aramid composite serves oil, chemical and gas pipeline repair, plus municipal, mining and pressure-vessel reinforcement — with strong field performance in both planned and emergency repairs.
